When I was planning my wedding, I had a million different ideas and themes that I had seen floating around in my mind.  A huge array of concepts that I absolutely loved – but not one that I could narrow it down to!  The only one thing that I did know however… was that I wanted my wedding to be the one that everyone talked about!  It had to be that one truly unique wedding of the year!  (We opted for the surprise wedding also themed masquerade – it was certainly a little different!) Five and a half years have passed since my big day, and in that time many things have changed in the industry.  One thing that hasn’t changed, is that every bride wants their day to be special and uniquely different to the next one.  Although many may opt for the traditional, gone are the days when weddings were bound by tradition…  A white dress, black groom suit, chapel, peach bridesmaid’s dresses, sugar-coated almonds and a reception laced with boring hour-long speeches.  Yes, yes, yes! Finally!  Couples are able to put a lot more of themselves into their day.  They are personalising it, adding their own twist and making a statement on the day that they declare their love to the world.

I’ve photographed a wedding with a bride that walked down a natural fibre carpet, on the beach with her grandfather in arm, to an African drum band (what a spectacular entrance!)…  Another who was escorted by both parents, and greeted by her fiancé and two babies (their family dogs – both wearing hand embroidered bandanas matching the rest of the bridal party), the ceremony was by a lake on their own property… The last that I will mention (but certainly not the limits to my exquisite wedding experiences) is a gorgeous wedding in tropical Fiji, where the only thing traditionally Fijian, was the ‘Fiji time’ scheduling!

With this notion of the unique wedding in mind, we have filled the new pages of Inspire Bridal Issue 2 with concepts and suggestions to get your creative juices flowing… Use as many ideas as you like – change them again and make them yours!  But don’t forget to have fun and enjoy the inspired journey!
